Bulloch Hall

Bulloch Hall is a historic house located in Roswell, Georgia. The house was built in 1839 by Major James Stephens Bulloch and was the boyhood home of his son, Theodore Roosevelt. Bulloch Hall is now a museum operated by the Bulloch Foundation and is open to the public for tours.

The Bulloch House is a two-story Greek Revival-style plantation house. It features a central hall plan with four large rooms on each floor and a portico with six columns extending across the house's front.

The house's interior was restored to its appearance when Theodore Roosevelt lived there as a child. Bulloch Hall was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.

The history of Bulloch House began in 1838 when Major James Bulloch, a plantation owner and cotton merchant, commissioned the construction of the house. Bulloch was a wealthy man who wanted to build a grand house that would reflect his status. As a result, the Bullochs were one of the first families to settle in Roswell, and their home soon became the center of social life in the town.

The Bulloch Foundation offers guided tours of Bulloch House, which trained docents lead. Visitors can learn about the history of the house and the Bulloch family, as well as see original furniture and artifacts from the Bullochs' period time. Tours typically last about an hour, and reservations are needed for groups of 10 or more people.

Theodore Roosevelt lived at Bulloch Hall from 1854 to 1858, when his father died, and his mother remarried. Roosevelt later wrote fondly of his childhood memories at Bulloch Hall and credited his time there with instilling a love of nature in him. In 1919, Roosevelt's sister, Anna Bulloch Gracie, donated Bull.

Outside of the Bulloch House is a statue of Theodore Roosevelt as a young boy. The sculpture was created by American sculptor James Earle Fraser and was dedicated in October 1941. It stands on the spot where Roosevelt is believed to have stood when he gave his first public speech at the age of eight.

- Bulloch Hall is open from 10 am to 4 pm on Tuesday through Saturday. Tours are offered on the hour and last approximately one hour.
- Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors (65+), $5 for children (ages 6-18), and free for children five and under.
